Buck Stove Model 21ZC (ZC21) Zero Clearance Wood Burning Fireplace
The ZC21 is an ideal choice for zone heating or small homes, with a heating range of 800-1,800 square feet and 11,079-28,901 BTUs per hour. It is the Model 21 firebox built into a zero-clearance cabinet, so it frames directly into a wall in new construction or a remodel instead of needing an existing masonry fireplace. The blower is included.
The door is available in black (FP ZC21), or in gold (FP ZC21G) and pewter (FP ZC21P) from Tri-State's closeout stock: Buck's 2026 line is black door only, so the gold and pewter doors ship while stock lasts. Same stove, different door finish. The gold and pewter doors are priced at Tri-State's closeout price for the discontinued finishes ($4,009 against $3,377 for black), so black is the better buy unless you want the finish.
Built by Buck Stove in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Buck Stove has made stoves in the USA since 1975.

Questions buyers ask
What is the difference between the 21 and the 21ZC?
Same firebox, same 800-1,800 square foot rating. The 21ZC comes in a zero-clearance cabinet that is framed into a wall; the Model 21 is a freestanding stove or masonry insert.
What rough opening does it need?
Buck's 2026 catalog lists minimum framing of 37-1/2" W x 35-7/8" H x 24-3/4" D for the 37" x 34" unit, plus a hearth extension of at least 16" in front. Confirm against the cabinet manual before framing.
Is the blower included?
Yes. Buck lists the ZC21 with its blower assembly, on a dedicated 15 A circuit.
Which Buck do I need for my square footage?
Buck rates the Model 21 and 21ZC for 800-1,800 sq ft, the 74C and ZC74C for 1,500-2,600, the 81C for 1,600-2,700 and the Model 91 for 1,800-3,200. A drafty older house lands at the low end of a range, a tight modern house at the high end. Call (708) 765-6925 with your square footage and we will size it with you.
Does the federal wood-stove tax credit apply?
No. The federal 25C credit for biomass stoves ended for stoves placed in service after December 31, 2025, so a stove installed in 2026 does not qualify, whoever sells it. Some retailers still advertise it. State, county and utility change-out rebates are separate and worth checking. This is not tax advice.
